Q & A's

What do you hope to accomplish in the next 10 years?
Well thats the funny thing. I live my life by faith and what ever God allows me to accomplish I am truly satisfied. 10, 20, 30 years from now I can say that my life is great because I had the strength to put God first.

Describe yourself in one word?
Passionate

Do you have a mantra?
Yes, "The world is my model".

If you weren't a Photographer what would you be?
A Script/ Play Writer or Film Director

You feel  happiest when?
I am shooting still life and nature/reading my Bible and meeting new people.

People would be surprised to learn ...
(1)That I like to cook.(2) I don't plan my days too far in advance. I love to let things happen.

If your home were on fire what is one thing you would save?
Wow that's tough! I'd probably die trying to go in for my camera equipment cause I would grab my computer first.

If you could invite 8  people (living, dead, animal or fiction)  to dinner who would you choose?
I would invite Selma Hayek, Michael Jackson,  Aliyah, Thandie Newton, Peter Griffin, Left Eye Biggie and  2 Pac

What are your faults?
If I told you I would have to get rid of you.

If you could change anything about yourself what would it be?

The Listening ear that leads to selfless acts. I tend to listen and aid people way too much. I feel like it takes up more of my time than any. I love to help and I care a lot, but sometimes it's over-whelming.

PET PEEV PART 1

In over 10 years of photography on location it never ceases to amaze me that how many people are oblivious to the fact that you are working. I don't mind a captive audience when I shoot on location. You get the people who really appreciate the work you and the model are doing. My biggest Pet Peeve is when working on location the people who get in the way of the shoot, the obnoxious fellow or the perverted fellow. The people who just have to be in the shot or even the clueless people who are in the shot and for some reason believe that they are not.

THE WORKING GUYS.

In this particular shoot the driver in the work truck was going super slow just to get by,  I know your working but why so slow? Have you never seen a girl before? Vanessa and I had already talked about two other people who just showed up to watch and they were basically in the shot. It's like hey buddy can you move a lil further from the model? As a matter of fact can you move further down the beach?

The second guy also working, he had been driving up and down the beach in the location we were shooting earlier just to watch. Well low and behold he's BAAACKK!! Look at him sitting in the back round in his 4 wheeler just parked under the tree like he has some work he is doing there. For about 10 minutes I had the pleasure of waiting patiently for this guy to leave. Finally he got his eye full and decided that he really couldn't see much of the model from behind cause her coat is way too long.

~Grrrrrrr~

PET PEEV PART 2

Don't get me wrong but like I said before I have a tolerance and eventually the limit will be reached and things could go from bad to worse. I really do appreciate a captive audience when I shoot on location. Like I said before its my biggest Pet Peeve is to work on location and the people who pass by just get in the way of the shoot.

THE PASSING BY AUDIENCE.

In this particular shoot it was at the bus stop so I expected some people to be around and walk by, but come on this lady was asking the model her life story. It took at least 5 minutes out of shooting time to get this lady to BEAT IT! Vanessa had to ask her to leave several times cause she was in the middle of a shoot. If I had not been across the street with traffic coming I would have done it myself.

MARLON RICHARDSON PHOTOGRAPHY

I had the pleasure of working with Marlon Richardson, a gifted High - Fashion and Wedding Photographer on a collaboration Test Shoot Outing. This particular shoot was just that, not a whole lot thought into it, but enough to make it an adventure. The model was the beautiful and excellent to work with Christina Grey. Marlon has been shooting for 8 years professionally. His interest in photography began at a young age from observing his father shooting and ever since than he has just been addicted to shooting. Marlon is proficient with 35 mm film cameras, Medium Format, Various Professional Digital SLR's, but his Digital Weapon of choice is the Sony A Series. Marlon is a very creative and inspired photographer. He says that when putting together the locations to shoot he is inspired by the architecture of buildings in the area and how the light reflects and hits multiple surfaces. If you look at his work you notice those details with in his shots by the series of images he presents. Although Marlon loves the advantages of digital photography, he loves 120/120 film. In particular Fuji Color Negative film because of how it renders skin tones. Photography has made him a more well rounded artists in other mediums. Marlon not only shoots, but is a layout interactive designer. When he is is designing he is usually creating graphic user interfaces for new applications and products. Marlon is what you would call a Web-Designing-Tech-Guru! I like the term NERD only because when he gets into it his mind is going 100 miles per hour and the outcome is amazing. Like Marlon would say " I specialize in creating compelling imagery that shows the beauty in humanity through thought provoking and striking portraits". If you would like to get a hold of Marlon you can reach him at the contact info down below and once again thank you all for stopping by.

Till next time Ciao!!

PHOTOSHOPPED AGAIN!!!

Well Here we go again! I love to manipulate images just to see what could possibly happen when creativity and imagination comes together. How can you resist the temptation to alter and image. With all the special effects and digital additions to Movies and Posters it's what the people want. Okay in this particular project the same rules apply to this one just like the last one. Choose your subject, than choose what to alter it into. I choose animals because people and animal have similar characteristics and for this one I chose the Cheetah because it's one of my favorite animals. It's lean, fast and agile. I consider the model to be equivalent. Her facial features we similar.

Product Lighting

It's funny with all the models I have encountered in my photography career, my favorite of all is the one that is always on time, well prepared, already dressed to impress, and doesn't need a lot to get themselves together. You got it my favorite model is inanimate objects! This is probably the most interesting and exciting photography to do. "In Studio Product Lighting." If you have had a lighting class or had any training with studio equipment, you know there is much more to lighting that meets the eye. It does take preparation on the photographers part. Coming up with a concept is the first step. Next having the lighting that you desire in a visual form or and idea that has probably been used won't hurt for our first timers. Select a sample of lighting from a magazine ad or article. Then follow through with an appropriate subject. Perfume bottles, Jewelry, Watches, Shoes, Hand Bags or my personal favorite, TOYS!!! Keep in mind colors, location of light and how to enhance colors that already exist on the product. The use of Color Gels are very effective for a successful execution of your product. Be accurate and sure about positioning. We'll thats all for now, so take a look at what I have done.

Thanks for stopping by.

Nicki Jones

Francesca Nicole

Female
23 years old
Miami Beach, Florida, US

5'11" 124 lbs.

When shooting who says you have to be dressed up to the nine, hey sometimes you just have to be comfortable. This particular shoot I did with Nicki was just to create a commercial look. We needed something playful and sexy at the same time with out getting into lingerie. So lets go with boxers and a tank top. Comfy pillows and sheets with a fold out futon to make it complete. Make it simple and just shoot!

The Photographer????

Have you ever wondered who the photographer is? I mean really have you ever wondered who the guy behind the camera really is besides a picture taker, or moment catcher? Some individuals just plan their day according to what they need. Nine times out of ten the needs they want are driven by what influences them most. Not the fact that they need it, but the sheer fact that the moment they are in requires them to participate in whatever the flow is pushing them to. I have done several shoots and I feel like I get to know the models that I work with. I know who the are and who they are in love with. What they like and how their day went. I know who supports their career choice and what motivates them to be who they are. I know their role models and favorite model spread in a magazine. The question I still pose is, do you really get to know your photographer the way you should? It's funny how people talk about creepy men with cameras waiting to get you in the studio to take awful photos of you. Do you really research the person you are going to have take images for your portfolio? I only ask is because everyday we allow people into our lives who can either make a positive or negative influence on us. We take it for granted that everyone is cool and respectable. In a disrespectful world we nonchalantly walk around like we are indestructible and nothing can happen to us. I invite you all who desire to work with me to get to know me as a person. I am easy going, fun, creative. A caring person with ideas that will move you. From beginning to end my job is to help you find that pose, that shot that will help you make it. The one that will give you confidence in yourself so you can progress and succeed. What are your dreams? Why do you want to model? How can you achieve it? Let me help you get to where you are going. Lets make something happen. Let's make something worth keeping. Let's build your book and redefine what is fashion in this industry. I am here if you would like to work with me? I am Jean Claude and I am THE PHOTOGRAPHER.

PHOTOSHOPPED!!!

Sometimes images just need a lil creativity to make the images come to life. Well on this particular adventure of mine I decided to let it all loose and no holds barred. I took the time to plan out my attack on these poor unknowing models. They allowed me to shoot them, but what they didn't know was that they were part of the ploy to CREATIVITY!!!! Letting my imagination run wild I just took what I learned in my classes eons ago and mixed it in with what I call Photoshop MASTER TECHNIQUES and made a masterpiece of my own. Well actually I made several, but Im only gonna show you 1. Take a gander at this transformation. As you can see what began as a head shot was converted into a metal mask. I took the time to sample several facial images of robots, cyborgs, action heroes, and fictional characters well known to the public. I decided to stick with the Autobot Symbol. It was very popular because Transformers 2 was coming out in theaters soon so I wanted something current. Without giving too many of my secrets I resized the image to fit the size of my subject. While copying and cutting different layers of hair to add the realness to the image. Using different layer masks to help make the transition effective I was able to create this finished product.

GO GREEN!

Time to light it up. So you want to get down with colored back drops? Well in the professional world of high fashion Photography it's really a "No No", to use such bright colors as back rounds. Instead the models themselves should wear bright colors to make the image pop. I love to go against the grain so lets begin with green!! Shooting with Amanda was a whole lot of fun. She is very energetic happy and ready for what ever. My kind of model. It also helps that she is a dancer and has a great body. Really toned and very flexible. But this shot was all fun and games. We want colors that would pop with the green back drop so we picked white and red.

Have A Seat!!!

Early in my Miami Photography life. I was happy to come across a wonderful person named Lauren. She was one of many women who wanted to shoot. She had an extreme look, but unfortunately the agencies that wanted her to sign recommended that she cut her hair. Seems reasonable enough, but her hair was her pride and joy. She had been growing it over 7 years. Her look was unique and very edgy. The more we sat and talked I realized that sometimes it's more than just hair it was who she was. She was a laid back hipster with the mentality of an old cool cat from the late 60's. She had a don't mess with me attitude, but a gentle smile that made you wanna see if she had what it took or was she just talking jive. Anyhow we had a blast shooting just Lauren in my favorite chair.
