Behind the Scenes!!!

Sometimes you just gotta let the other guy shoot! I have been shooting over 10 years and I never get tired of shooting, but somedays its always a pleasure to watch and appreciate other photographers. Especially if you had the opportunity to teach something you learned to that up and coming individual. Greg Scott Nelson a Michigan native, lived out in Miami with me for a while. His love for photography started of with nature and still life. Greg shot miniature models and figurines. After assisting me on several shoots in Miami, Greg eventually wanted to shoot people as well. I took the time to show him lighting techniques and also creating and environment in the studio. He also learned styling and putting together the shoot from clothing, accessories, hair, make-up and of course finding the model. As you can see from the images Greg was off to a great start to becoming a professional photographer.

Living out of your Suitcase!!!!

Some feel that living out your suitcase or trunk of your car is a horrible life. Some even dread the chance of anybody seeing the mess they have collected in either place. Unfortunately that has become the norm for most people nowadays. Life has taken a turn from fast pace to SUPER FAST PACE. You never get a chance to relax with the economy coming to a screeching HAULT!!! You have to have more than one job, or even working longer hours than you were used to at the job you currently have. Some never even see the light of day or remember even sleeping at night. So with the days getting longer and the nights getting shorter some have decided well if I take it with me I can save some time and catch up. Wether its food on the go, clothing for the evening, a trunk full of shoes or my personal favorite the used coffee cup storage facility. Most americans have adapted to the concept of "No time, but on the go!" I don't really see a solution for this problem as of this point, but all I can say is drive safe, clean as often as possible and don't get caught dressing and driving.

Hali Kay POTATO MASH!!!

So what could I come up with for a shoot? Lets see so Im sitting there wanting to do something raw and crazy with a model and BANG it hits me. Let peel and potato and eat it Dirt RAW! Ghiradelli Chocolate Company

I have been HOOKED! You would think that this place was straight out of Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory. I mean they know how to get you. First you walk in and out comes a free sample of chocolate for you to try. I thought to myself, " what if I don't buy anything?" We'll I didn't buy anything and got another sample on the way out. WOW! I guess if you just want a sample they got plenty to give away. Honestly they have the BEST hot chocolate, milk chocolate and ice cream treats that could personally bankrupt me if I spend too much time there. Anyhow back to my Photo- graphy experience. I was hanging out with another photographer this particular day and I decided to try the Sony A700. Talk about finding a new toy. This camera is precise and sharp. Shooting hand held is a cinch. I took this image while parading around the store. I was in and out in a matter of 3 minutes and I got two pieces of chocolates to go. Hey if you gotta take photo's why not eat chocolate while you do it. Ghiradelli is located at 801 Lincoln Rd. Miami Beach, FL.

STOLEN!!!!

It was a hot and sunny day in Miami. Pretty much the same as everyday. People enjoying the sun and having fun on vacation. I was riding my bike down Washington Blvd. It was around 4:30 pm and so many people were in town this month. I stopped in a Miami Tourist Shop near Lincoln road, one of the busiest streets in South Beach. I walked in to ask for some info on Jet Skies. I picked up a brochure and headed back outside. I looked around and my bike was GONE. It was right here by the door to the shop. I looked left and looked right, not a single person with a bike like mine in sight. I was in the store for less than 20 seconds. I was upset and amazed at how fast my bike got stolen. The fact that no one in the general location even had a bike like mine meant that the bike was moved in at least 5 seconds and on the road at least 10 seconds before they vanished. Lesson for those bike owners in Miami. If you think that 5 to 10 seconds in not enough time to get your bike ripped off, try it and see if you can beat the thieves? Never again!!

Miami's Favorite Pastime!

Well if you don't know what the number one thing to do on the beach is beside getting some color, here is a hint. It's got sand, a net and a ball. If you guessed volleyball you are absolutely correct! No matter how hot it is, how exhausting the sun can get. These volleyballers are non stop! I spent a good 40 minutes watching the matches and snapping a quick photo here and there. The players were intense and the competition was numerous. I didn't know that it was such a popular thing to do until I moved out here. Besides being fun to watch, I got great images to add to my blog. So enjoy what I have for you today. Just a trip to the park changes the mood of brothers when the paparazzi like photographer (J.C.) decides to document the moments.

Nothing but a good time is captured as the brothers play together and spending a lil time forgetting about who did what and remembering what big brothers and lil brothers mean to one another.
